I conceived The Bateekha Project after sourcing a real watermelon in Egypt and casting it in fibreglass. That single form was sent to twenty-eight artists around the world, each invited to transform it into an original work celebrating Palestinian identity, resilience and hope. I chose to commemorate the watermelon in bronze, casting my own response as Bateekha I. The charity exhibition and auction is presented with co-founders Ghada Sousou, Dima Fakhry, Taya Elzayadi and Malak Fouad; all works are auctioned on 18 September, with 100% of proceeds going to Healing for Gaza.
